  4. large cloud of gas in space. Open clusters
  5. such as the Pleiades contain from a dozen to
  6. many hundreds of young stars, loosely
  7. scattered over several light years. Globular
  8. clusters are larger and much more densely
  9. packed, containing perhaps 100,000 old stars.
